Our Vision
Roughly half of the animals who enter shelters—many of them healthy, young, and adoptable—end up euthanized because of simple math: There are too many animals and not enough worthy adoptive homes. ShelterMatch breaks the vicious cycle. Our mission is to increase animal adoption, therefore, decreasing the number of abandoned animals. We strongly support the idea of adopting any animal from rescue pets to puppies and kitties.
Improved Experience
If a pet and owner’s personality match the likelihood of abandoning the pet is lower. The app matches not only personalities of owners to animals but also personalities of animals to a certain home lifestyle. If you are living in a loud environment, you would not be recommended an animal who was previously abused and afraid of crowds and loud sounds.
Convenience
Do not have the time to travel and pick potential dog or cat in an animal foster home? Users of the platform can view myriads of pets from their own phone through a single app. ShelterMatch has the location of each animal the person likes, so they can meet the animal in person before taking them home. Everyone can easily adopt a pet near them!

Q.Is the app free?
A. Our application is completely free! Adopting a pet from a shelter is an act of kindness and care. Our core aim is to help customers find pets that match their lifestyle and become their friend and companion, thus reducing sheltered animals. Therefore, we do not charge shelters and users to further stimulate pet adoption.
Q.Can I return an animal I have adopted from the app?
A. Yes. The purpose of the app is to connect you with your pet. We do not follow actions after that, however, we strongly suggest you carefully consider returning an animal.
Q.Is the app for me?
A. The app is for everyone! It is for single people looking for a companion, families with children looking to increase their household members. Volunteers at animal shelters might also find the app valuable, if they want to find a lasting relationship with a pet.
Q.Can I adopt more than one pet?
A. Yes! As long as you are sure you can take care of them, you can adopt more than one cat or dog!
